In my role at Huma, I have the great privilege of working with incredibly talented innovators and clinicians, helping deliver impactful projects that will improve people’s lives. I recently spent some time with the team at Politico, talking about this, and you can watch the video below. To find out more about our work, and to meet with us, please complete the form here.
For me, my work is tied with a personal mission. Like many of us, I’ve been touched by instances where ill health of those closest to us, has had a profound impact on myself and family members. What I found was, through some of my own experiences, that remote monitoring can bring precious time back for patients.
There are many instances where a deterioration in a serious disease means that interventions need to happen fast. Digital devices, whether connected smart devices, or medical grade devices, are enabling capture of near real time data. It enables us to identify when an individual is at risk of experiencing a severe event related to their condition, and consequently, for clinicians to take timely and appropriate actions to prevent or mitigate it.
This newfound ability provides patients with a profound sense of reassurance, empowering them to continue with their daily lives confidently, knowing that their health is closely monitored, and necessary interventions will be swiftly implemented if required.
I believe technology, such as Huma's, can also play a significant role in addressing healthcare inequalities on a larger scale.
Take, for instance, a common condition like Asthma, where regular clinician visits every six months are recommended for patients who have their condition under control. While this may not be a problem for some, it can be challenging for those living in remote rural areas. For families, this could lead to their children missing school or parents missing work, posing a real issue, especially for lower-income households. However, remote patient monitoring can be a game-changer in these situations. By implementing programs designed to reach everyone, it can bridge the gap and help address these healthcare disparities effectively.
Our partners across the pharmaceutical industry have an important role to play in how we think about solutions that can have impact at scale. In a recent collaboration with Bayer for example, we helped develop an approach where Huma’s cardiovascular risk score, has been used in a broad population health programme, powering heart health awareness and action.
It's my strong belief that our partners, with Huma’s technology, will have an even bigger role to play in health transformation in the coming years. Contact us now, to find out more.
